My Adi Guru

After listening to my mother and learning a few songs, my mother took me to Sri. Shankar Sir to formally teach me Vocal Music.  Sri Shankar Sir is a student of Tanjovore Shankariyer and so taught me in the Tanjavore Shankariyer Bani.  I enjoyed learning music under him and I remember Sri Shankar Sir and express my deep gratitude to him as he laid the foundation for my future.  I can still recall that my adi Guru taught me at my very young age, fairly long keerthanas such as Maragadhavalli, Kaya Roganesam, Nagalingam etc.

Presently, I am learning Vocal music from Smt. Akila Siva.  My guru, Akila Siva is my mentor and I believe that I have her fullest blessings.  She has been teaching me since my age of 6 years-So she has been my Guru for close to 10 years.  My Guru’s eldest son is the famed Vocalist Sri. Vijay Siva and the younger son, the famed percussionist Sri. Manoj Siva.  My Guru teaches me in the DKP / DKJ Bani.
